Presenters:
Bradley Barth
Fareen Zaver
James Miner
Objectives:
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
Create a plan for a digital meeting or teaching session.
Identify at least 3 new digital tools to augment their meetings or teaching sessions
Compare and contrast digital and “real-life” meetings and teaching sessions, specifically identifying some key affordances that digital provides that you cannot replicate in real life.
The Problem:
Since the beginning of the pandemic, our faculty have all been required to explore digital equivalents to engage in academic work, whether it is teaching, administration, or research. In this session, we will explore the phases of planning, delivering, and facilitating digital proceedings. This will be a 45-minute interactive session that gives you a chance to experience new tactics and strategies that you can add to your teaching or leadership tool box.
Our Approach:
7 minutes - Presentation about Overall Approach to Meetings, What is better done on Digital vs Live;
30 minutes - Interactive on the platforms- focused on exploring new augmenting platforms: (PollEv; Collaborative Google Doc/Slides; JamBoard/Kahoot/Padlet) and discussing the ins/outs of each;
8 minutes - Debrief, wrap up, Q&A
Instructional Methods:
Interactive discussion and audience participation using each of the platforms.
